Everything you need for Team Mexicano

From entering pairs to the final standings, fully automatic.

๐Ÿค

Fixed pairs

Enter each pair once as Name1 and Name2. Partners stay together all session, only the opponents change.

๐Ÿ“ˆ

Standings-based opponents

Round 1 is random. After that, team 1 plays team 2, team 3 plays team 4, and so on by rank, just like Mexicano does for individual players.

๐Ÿ”

Anti-rematch protection

If the standings would repeat last round's matchup, PadelBracket swaps in the next-ranked team where possible, so opponents don't just repeat every round.

Ready in 4 steps

Set up your Team Mexicano in under a minute.

1

Enter the pairs

Type each fixed pair as "Name1 & Name2", one per line. Minimum 3 pairs.

2

Start round 1

Round 1 assigns opponents randomly. Select the number of courts, then enter scores.

3

Auto pairings

After each round, pairs are ranked by points and opponents are reassigned automatically.

4

Final standings ๐Ÿ†

The pair with the most total points wins, with head-to-head as the tiebreak.

Example schedule: 4 pairs, 3 rounds

4 fixed pairs, 2 courts. Round 1 is random, then opponents are assigned by standings.

Round 2Court 1Team 2vsTeam 3
Court 2Team 1vsTeam 4
Round 3Court 1Team 1vsTeam 2
Court 2Team 3vsTeam 4

Illustrative example. The actual matchups from round 2 onward depend on who wins, and the anti-rematch rule can swap a team in if the standings would otherwise repeat the previous round's matchup.

When to choose Team Mexicano

Team Mexicano suits groups that already have fixed pairs but still want the competitive edge of standings-based matchups, rather than a pre-set schedule. It works well for club leagues, recurring pair events and any session where partners want to stay together but still face opponents close to their own level.

If you'd rather have every pair face every other pair exactly once on a fixed schedule, Team Americano is the simpler choice. If your group doesn't need fixed pairs, regular Mexicano applies the same standings-based idea to individual players. And if you want the ranking to shift dynamically court by court instead of just by opponent, King of the Court adds promotion and relegation.

Frequently asked questions

What is Team Mexicano in padel?

Team Mexicano is a padel tournament format for fixed pairs, where opponents are assigned by live standings each round instead of a fixed schedule. Round 1 is random. After that, team 1 plays team 2, team 3 plays team 4, and so on by rank, so the competition gets tighter every round while every pair keeps the same partner all session.

How is Team Mexicano different from Team Americano?

Both formats use fixed pairs. Team Americano plays a full round robin, so every pair faces every other pair once on a schedule set at the start. Team Mexicano instead re-pairs opponents after every round based on live standings, the same idea Mexicano uses for individual players.

How many pairs do you need for Team Mexicano?

You need at least 3 fixed pairs (6 players), and PadelBracket supports up to 12 pairs (24 players). If the pair count doesn't fill every court, one pair rotates onto a bye each round on a fair schedule.

How does the anti-rematch rule work?

If the standings would pair two teams that already played each other in the immediately previous round, PadelBracket swaps one of them with the next-ranked team where possible, so pairs don't face the same opponent twice in a row.

How are Team Mexicano standings decided?

Pairs are ranked by cumulative points scored across all rounds. If two pairs are tied on points and have played each other, the pair that won that head-to-head match ranks higher.

Can you play with a fixed point target or a timer?

Yes. PadelBracket supports two scoring modes for Team Mexicano: a fixed point target per match, or a timer per round so every court plays the same number of minutes and whoever leads when time runs out wins that match.

Is there a free Team Mexicano generator?

Yes. PadelBracket generates padel Team Mexicano for free, with no account, no installation and no payment. Open the app, select Team Mexicano, enter the pairs as Name1 and Name2, and the app assigns opponents by standings automatically every round.
